        Name of department: Department of Social welfare

        The Department of social welfare was established in 1968 with the sole purpose of implementing welfare programmes to uplift the weaker section of the society; women, children, aged and disabled persons. The following are the welfare programme implemented:

                 i. Integrated Child Development Programmes.

                 ii. Welfare Programme for Senior Citizens.

                 iii. Welfare Programme for Persons with Disabilities.

                 iv. Welfare Programme for Widows.

                 v. Grant-in-Aid Programme.

         In Dimapur district the Department is under the charge of district Programme Officer with Child Development Project Officer (Urban) heading the project office.
