How to reach

By Air : Airport Dimapur : Direct flights from Delhi via Kolkata.

By Rail : Railway Station Dimapur; well connected with Guwahati, with a number of trains that shuttle between the two stations every day. Guwahati has direct train lines with most major Indian cities. Rajdhani and Jan Shatabdi expresses ply regularly to Dimapur.

By Road : Night buses connect Dimapur and Kohima to Guwahati and Shillong (Meghalaya). A number of taxis ply from Dimapur to Kohima. A very convenient way for reaching Kohima is to take the train or flight to Dimapur and then rent a taxi to Kohima. The Dimapur taxi stand is adjacent to the Railway Station. Yellow Taxis can be hired with other passengers (shared taxis) or exclusively (full taxis). A ‘full taxi’ could cost anything between INR 650 to INR 700 for a one-way trip to Kohima. A traveler can also opt to rent a car from Guwahati (through tour operators) and drive all the way to Kohima. This pleasant drive lasts about 8 9 hours, taking the tourist past beautiful stretches of forests, greenery and hills; but one should try to start and end the journey before nightfall due to the terrain.

Tour Operators (Govt. approved):

    • For those that want their trip to be planned in advance and experience a ‘no glitch’ holiday, the govt. approved tour operators are available in plenty in Nagaland. Contact details of some of the major ones are provided here.
